Daily Verse

Psalm 28:7 reminds us that God is both our strength and our protection: “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.” David’s confidence was not that hardship would never come, but that when it did, God would remain trustworthy. Faith does not erase fear, grief, or uncertainty; it gives us Someone greater than those things in whom to place our trust.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, this verse carries particular weight. We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of first responders and ordinary people who stepped forward to help others. Psalm 28:7 calls us not only to remember tragedy, but also to remember where lasting security is found. Nations, buildings, and circumstances can be shaken, but God remains our strength and shield. Our response can therefore be remembrance without despair, gratitude for those who served sacrificially, prayer for those who still carry grief, and renewed trust in the Lord.

Daily application: When fear or uncertainty arises, deliberately replace the question “What if something goes wrong?” with “Whom am I trusting if it does?” Then thank God for His faithfulness and look for one way to encourage, serve, or protect someone else today.
