Revelations 21:1-2 ESV
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
Revelation 21:1–2 gives us a breathtaking picture of where God is taking His people: not toward endless brokenness, but toward complete renewal. John sees “a new heaven and a new earth,” reminding us that sin, suffering, loss, and death do not get the final word. God is making all things new, and the future of every believer is ultimately secure in His presence.
The picture of the holy city “prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” also shows how personal this promise is. God is not merely restoring creation; He is preparing His people for eternal fellowship with Him. When life feels uncertain or painful, these verses invite us to lift our eyes beyond present circumstances and live with hope, knowing that our final destination is not decay, but restoration, joy, and life with God forever.
