Luke 12:37 ESV
Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them.
Luke 12:37 reminds us that faithfulness is not merely about believing the right things—it is about being spiritually awake and ready to serve. Jesus describes as “blessed” those servants who are found faithfully watching when their master returns. The surprising promise is that the master will then serve them, a beautiful picture of Christ’s grace toward those who remain devoted to Him.
For believers, the call is to live each day with steady obedience rather than spiritual complacency. We do not know when Christ will return, but we can choose to be ready by staying close to Him, serving others, and faithfully doing what He has entrusted to us. Readiness for Christ is built through daily faithfulness to Christ.
