Daily Verse

Proverbs 4:14–15 warns us not merely to resist evil once we are caught in it, but to avoid the path that leads there in the first place. Solomon’s repeated commands—do not enter it, avoid it, turn away, pass on—show the importance of intentional choices. Sin often begins with seemingly small compromises, unhealthy influences, or situations we convince ourselves we can handle. Wisdom recognizes danger early and chooses another direction.

For believers, this means guarding what influences our hearts, minds, relationships, and decisions. Following Christ sometimes requires more than saying “no” to sin; it requires creating distance from what draws us toward it. We should ask: Is this choice moving me closer to Christ or making compromise easier? Spiritual maturity is demonstrated not by seeing how close we can get to temptation without falling, but by choosing the path that keeps us walking faithfully with God.
