Psalm 62:1-2 ESV
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.
Psalm 62:1–2 reminds us that true rest is found not in changed circumstances, but in an unchanging God. David describes God as his rock, salvation, and fortress—three images of stability and protection. When life feels uncertain, our natural instinct is often to look for something we can control. This passage calls us instead to quiet our hearts and place our confidence in the One who cannot be shaken.
The words “I shall not be greatly shaken” do not mean we will never feel fear, disappointment, or pressure. They mean those things do not have to determine where we stand. When God is our foundation, difficulties may shake us, but they do not have to overthrow us. Today, we can choose to wait quietly before Him, trusting that the God who saves us is also strong enough to sustain us.
