Romans 15:1-2 ESV
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
Romans 15:1–2 reminds us that spiritual maturity is not measured simply by what we know or by the freedoms we possess, but by how willingly we use our strength to support others. Paul calls believers who are “strong” to bear with the weaknesses of others rather than living primarily to please themselves. Christian strength is meant to carry, encourage, and build up, not to criticize or demand that others move at our pace.
This passage challenges us to ask, “How can my choices help someone else grow closer to Christ?” There will be moments when love requires patience, restraint, or putting another person’s needs ahead of our preferences. Jesus modeled this perfectly. Today, look for an opportunity to use whatever strength, wisdom, experience, or encouragement God has given you to build someone else up for their good and for God’s glory.
