Galatians 1:10 ESV

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Galatians 1:10 (ESV) reminds us that our highest calling is to please God rather than seek the approval of people. Paul makes it clear that a life devoted to Christ cannot be driven by the changing opinions, expectations, or praise of others. When our identity is rooted in Christ, we are freed from the exhausting pursuit of human approval and can faithfully obey Him, even when it is difficult or unpopular.

This verse challenges us to examine our motives. Are our decisions shaped by a desire to honor God, or by a desire to gain acceptance from others? As followers of Christ, our greatest ambition should be to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23). Living for God’s approval brings a confidence and peace that no amount of human praise can ever provide.
