1 Chronicles 16:25 ESV

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods.

This verse is a powerful reminder that God alone is worthy of our highest praise, reverence, and devotion. David declares that the Lord’s greatness is beyond comparison, far exceeding every false god, idol, or competing affection that seeks our hearts. In a world filled with distractions that promise fulfillment, this passage calls us to fix our eyes on the One whose power, holiness, and love are unmatched. Worship is not merely a response to what God has done, but to who He is—great in His character, sovereign in His rule, and faithful in all His ways.

For believers today, this verse invites us to examine what holds the highest place in our lives. When we truly recognize God’s greatness, praise becomes a natural expression of gratitude, trust, and awe. Revering Him above all else reshapes our priorities, strengthens our faith during trials, and reminds us that nothing in this world deserves the allegiance that belongs to Christ alone. May our lives reflect the truth that the Lord is indeed “greatly to be praised,” not only with our words but also through our daily obedience and wholehearted worship.
