Philippians 3.20-21 ESV
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Philippians 3:20–21 reminds believers that our true citizenship is in heaven. While we live in this world and fulfill our responsibilities here, our ultimate identity and hope are found in Jesus Christ. This eternal perspective changes how we respond to life’s successes, disappointments, and hardships. Rather than placing our confidence in temporary things, we eagerly await the return of our Savior, knowing that He is preparing something far greater than anything this world can offer.
These verses also point to the incredible promise of our future transformation. Christ will one day change our weak, mortal bodies to be like His glorious resurrection body by His sovereign power over all things. This hope gives us courage to persevere, pursue holiness, and live with confidence, knowing that our future is secure in Him. No matter what we face today, we can live as faithful ambassadors of heaven, reflecting the character of the King to whom we belong.
