Romans 5:17 ESV
For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17 (ESV) reminds us that the reign of sin and death is no longer the final word for those who belong to Christ. Through Adam’s disobedience, death came to rule over humanity, but through the perfect obedience and sacrificial work of Jesus Christ, God offers an even greater reality: the abundance of His grace and the gift of righteousness. Salvation is not something we earn—it is a gift we receive by faith.
For believers today, this verse is an invitation to live with confidence and hope. We are no longer slaves to sin, fear, or condemnation. Because of Christ, we can “reign in life,” not by our own strength, but by walking daily in His grace and relying on the righteousness He has freely given us. No matter what challenges we face, we can live victoriously, knowing that King Jesus has already secured the ultimate victory on our behalf.
