1 Chronicles 16:28 ESV
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
This verse is a call to recognize and declare who God truly is. David’s song reminds us that God’s glory and strength are not limited to one nation or one group of people—they belong to Him alone, and all people are invited to acknowledge His greatness. The word “ascribe” means to give credit where it is due. We do not make God glorious by our praise; rather, we recognize and proclaim the glory He already possesses.
In a culture that often celebrates human achievement and self-reliance, this verse redirects our attention to the true source of strength. Every ability, opportunity, and blessing ultimately comes from the Lord. When we intentionally give Him honor, we place our lives in proper perspective and cultivate humility and gratitude.
Today, take a moment to reflect on God’s faithfulness and power in your life. Instead of focusing on your own resources or accomplishments, consciously give Him the glory and acknowledge that the strength you need for each day comes from Him.
