Matthew 6:24 ESV

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Matthew 6:24 reminds us that our hearts will always follow what we value most: “No one can serve two masters…” Jesus speaks plainly—our devotion cannot be divided between God and the pursuit of worldly security, status, or possessions. Money itself is not the enemy, but when it becomes our master, it quietly competes for the trust, dependence, and affection that belong to God alone.

This verse invites honest self-examination: What most influences my decisions, worries, and priorities?Jesus calls us to wholehearted devotion, trusting that God is a better Master—faithful, loving, and sufficient for our needs. When we place Him first, our lives gain clarity, peace, and purpose that material things can never fully provide.
