Colossians 1;21-22 ESV

And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,

Colossians 1:21–22 reminds us of the incredible change that takes place through Christ. Paul says that we were once “alienated and hostile in mind,” separated from God by our sin and rebellion. Left to ourselves, we could never repair that broken relationship. Yet God did not leave us in our distance—through Jesus’ death on the cross, He brought us near.

The beauty of these verses is found in the contrast: once separated, now reconciled. Jesus did not simply forgive from afar; He made a way for us to stand before God as “holy and blameless and above reproach.” This is not because of our own goodness, but because of Christ’s sacrifice. When guilt, shame, or past failures try to define us, we can remember that our identity is no longer rooted in who we were, but in what Christ has done. Today, live with gratitude and confidence, drawing near to God knowing you are fully welcomed through Jesus.
