Philippians 2:9-11 ESV
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9–11 (ESV) points us to the exaltation of Jesus after His humility and obedience. Because Christ willingly humbled Himself—even to death on a cross—God “highly exalted him” and gave Him “the name that is above every name.” This reminds us that God honors humility and obedience, even when the path is difficult or costly. Jesus’ suffering was not the end of the story; glory followed surrender.
These verses also point to a future reality: one day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Some will worship joyfully, others reluctantly, but all creation will ultimately recognize His authority and glory. For believers, this is both a comfort and a calling—to live now in willing surrender to Christ, honoring Him not only with our words, but with our daily choices. A practical question to consider: Does my life reflect that Jesus is truly Lord over my priorities, attitudes, and decisions today?
