Psalm 17:15 ESV

As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.

Psalm 17 ends with a striking contrast. While others seek satisfaction in the temporary things of this world, David declares that his deepest satisfaction is found in God Himself. David looks beyond present struggles and injustice with confidence, trusting that one day he will behold God’s face “in righteousness.” This points to an intimate relationship with God—one not based on human merit, but on living in fellowship with Him and ultimately being made right in His presence.

The phrase “when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness” carries a deep hope. It reminds believers that lasting fulfillment is not found in possessions, achievements, or circumstances, but in becoming more like Christ and one day seeing Him fully. Even in seasons of hardship, disappointment, or waiting, this verse calls us to anchor our hearts in the promise that God Himself is our ultimate satisfaction.

Practical Application: Ask yourself: What am I looking to for satisfaction? Make time daily to seek God through prayer, Scripture, and worship, allowing Him to shape your desires. When life feels unsettled, remember that the greatest joy for the believer is not merely relief from problems, but deeper closeness with God and the hope of seeing Him face to face.
