2 Corinthians 5:18-19 ESV

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

In 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, Paul reminds believers that salvation is not something we achieved on our own—it is entirely the work of God. Through Jesus Christ, God reconciled us to Himself, removing the barrier of sin and restoring a broken relationship. But the passage does not stop at what God has done for us; it also emphasizes what He now does through us. Those who have been reconciled are given “the ministry of reconciliation.” Christians are called to represent Christ in a world divided by sin, bitterness, pride, and hopelessness, pointing others to the peace and forgiveness found in Him.

The practical application is both personal and outward-focused. Personally, this passage challenges us to live in gratitude and humility, remembering that we stand forgiven only because of God’s grace. Outwardly, it calls us to become peacemakers and ambassadors of Christ in our homes, workplaces, churches, and communities. This means extending forgiveness, seeking restoration in damaged relationships, sharing the gospel faithfully, and reflecting Christ’s love in our daily interactions. A reconciled heart should produce a reconciling life.
