Proverbs 18:15 ESV

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

This proverb highlights the attitude of a wise and teachable person. Wisdom is not found in pretending to know everything, but in continually seeking understanding. A prudent heart remains humble enough to learn, listen, and grow. In contrast, pride closes the door to wisdom because it assumes there is nothing more to gain. Godly wisdom develops when we intentionally pursue truth through God’s Word, wise counsel, and life experience shaped by obedience.

The application for believers is clear: never stop growing spiritually and personally. We should become better listeners, slower to speak, and eager to learn from God and others. This applies in our relationships, work, ministry, and daily decisions. A teachable spirit protects us from foolishness and helps us respond with discernment rather than impulse. When we seek knowledge with humility and faith, God uses it to shape our character and strengthen our ability to serve others wisely.
