Titus 2:1 ESV
But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
Titus 2:1 is a simple but weighty charge: “But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.” Paul is drawing a clear line—truth isn’t just something we believe privately; it’s something we actively pass on and live out. Sound doctrine isn’t meant to stay in books or sermons—it is meant to shape character, influence relationships, and guide everyday decisions.
This verse pushes against a casual or selective approach to faith. It calls for consistency between what we say and how we live. Teaching “sound doctrine” isn’t reserved for pastors alone—it shows up in conversations, in how we lead our families, in how we respond under pressure, and in the example we set for others.
The challenge here is honesty: are our lives reinforcing the truth we claim to believe, or quietly contradicting it? Paul’s instruction to Titus is direct because the stakes are real—people are formed by what they see modeled. When truth is both taught and lived, it becomes compelling and transformative.
