Joel 2:25-26 ESV

I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you. “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you.”And my people shall never again be put to shame.

Joel 2:25–26 carries a powerful promise: God is able to restore what has been lost. In its original context, Israel had experienced devastation—both from natural disaster and as a consequence of their disobedience. Yet God doesn’t leave the story in ruin. He declares that He will “restore the years that the locust has eaten” and bring His people back into a place of provision, satisfaction, and praise.

For believers today, this speaks directly into seasons of regret, loss, or wasted time. It’s easy to look back and feel like opportunities are gone for good—years spent in wrong choices, spiritual drift, or hardship beyond our control. But this passage reminds us that God’s restoration is not limited by our past. He doesn’t just patch things up—He can redeem time, rebuild what was broken, and bring fruit out of what once felt empty.

At the same time, this promise is tied to returning to Him. Restoration flows from relationship. When we turn back to God with sincerity, we position ourselves to receive not only His provision, but a renewed sense of purpose that leads to gratitude and worship.

The takeaway is steady and grounding: your past is not final. God can restore, redeem, and refill what feels lost—but you have to bring it back to Him and trust Him with what comes next.
