Romans 15:5-6 ESV
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In these verses, Romans 15:5–6, Paul points to God as the source of endurance and encouragement, and then ties that directly to unity among believers. This unity isn’t about sameness in personality or preference—it’s about being aligned in Christ. When our minds and hearts are shaped by Him, we move toward one another instead of away from each other.
The purpose of that unity is powerful: “that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Unity in the church isn’t the end goal—God’s glory is. When believers walk in humility, patience, and mutual encouragement, their collective worship becomes a clear and compelling testimony of who God is.
This challenges us to examine ourselves. Are we contributing to unity, or quietly disrupting it through pride, criticism, or division? True spiritual maturity shows up in how we pursue harmony with others for the sake of honoring God.
Application:
Look for one intentional way today to strengthen unity—with a word of encouragement, an act of patience, or choosing understanding over being right. When we do this, we don’t just improve relationships—we magnify God together.
