Psalm 40:1-2 ESV
I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.
These verses remind us that waiting on God is not wasted time—it is active trust. David doesn’t describe a casual delay, but a deep, patient dependence on the Lord in the middle of distress. And God responds. He doesn’t ignore the cry; He leans in, hears, and acts. The movement is powerful—God lifts, rescues, and stabilizes. From sinking to standing, from chaos to security.
The truth here is simple but hard: many of us want the rescue without the waiting. But it’s often in the waiting that our faith is refined and our reliance on God is deepened. When He does lift us out, we stand differently—more grounded, more aware of His faithfulness. If you’re in a season that feels like a pit, don’t rush the process. Keep crying out, keep trusting. God is not distant—He is attentive, and He is able to set your feet on solid ground.
