Psalm 107:8 ESV

Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!

Psalm 107:8 is a call to respond rightly to God’s goodness: “Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man.” Gratitude here isn’t optional—it’s the appropriate reaction to a God who consistently rescues, provides, and restores. The psalm repeats this refrain because we are prone to forget what God has done, especially once the crisis has passed.

This verse challenges us to be intentional about remembering and expressing thanks. God’s love is not occasional; it is steadfast—steady, reliable, and unchanging. His works are not random; they are purposeful and often more evident in hindsight. A grateful heart doesn’t ignore hardship, but it refuses to overlook God’s faithfulness within it. When we pause to give thanks, we realign our perspective and strengthen our trust in the One who continues to work on our behalf.
