Galatians 1:8-9 ESV

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:8–9 is a sharp and necessary warning: the gospel is not ours to edit. Paul makes it clear that even if a messenger appears credible—even an apostle or an angel—if the message deviates from the true gospel of grace in Christ, it must be rejected. That’s strong language because the stakes are high; a distorted gospel doesn’t just mislead—it enslaves.

For us, this is a call to stay anchored. Not every message that sounds spiritual is truth. Culture, preference, and even well-meaning voices can subtly shift the focus away from Christ’s finished work. The test is simple but demanding: does it align with the gospel we’ve received? If not, we don’t negotiate with it—we walk away. Truth isn’t flexible, and guarding it is part of faithful living.
