Joshua 24:14-15 ESV
Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24:14–15 captures a decisive moment where Joshua calls the people of Israel to make a clear and intentional choice about whom they will serve. After reminding them of God’s faithfulness, he challenges them to reject the false gods around them and to serve the Lord with sincerity and faithfulness. Joshua’s declaration, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” models courageous leadership and personal conviction. Faith is not something that can remain neutral or inherited passively; it requires a deliberate commitment. For believers today, this passage reminds us that every day presents a choice about what will shape our priorities, loyalties, and actions. A life built on devotion to God begins with a clear decision to place Him at the center of our homes and hearts.
