Ephesians 1:7-9 ESV

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ

Ephesians 1:7–9 reminds believers that our redemption is not earned but given through the sacrificial work of Christ. In Him we have “redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,” according to the riches of God’s grace. This grace is not measured sparingly—it is lavished upon us. God does not simply tolerate us after forgiveness; He pours out grace generously, restoring our relationship with Him and bringing us into His purposes. The cost of redemption reveals both the seriousness of sin and the depth of God’s love.

Paul also emphasizes that God has made known to us “the mystery of his will.” Through Christ, what was once hidden is now revealed: God’s plan to redeem and unite all things under His authority. Believers are not just forgiven people; they are participants in God’s unfolding plan of redemption. This truth calls us to live with gratitude, humility, and purpose, recognizing that our lives are now part of something far greater than ourselves—the gracious and eternal plan of God.
