1 Corinthians 6:18 ESV
Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
1 Corinthians 6:18 calls believers to “flee from sexual immorality,” emphasizing that this sin uniquely harms one’s own body. Paul’s instruction is striking—he does not say to debate, manage, or gradually overcome temptation, but to flee. The urgency reflects the seriousness of how sexual sin can entangle the heart, distort God’s design for intimacy, and dull our spiritual sensitivity. For believers, the body is not merely physical; it is meant to honor God and reflect His holiness.
This verse reminds us that wisdom often looks like distance. Rather than testing our strength against temptation, we honor God by creating boundaries that protect purity and integrity. Fleeing is not weakness—it is obedience. When we choose to turn away from what harms us spiritually, we step toward the freedom and wholeness that God intends for His people.
