Habakkuk 2:14 ESV
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
Spoken in the middle of judgment and chaos, this promise lifts our eyes beyond present injustice to God’s ultimate purpose. The violence of Babylon would not have the final word—God’s glory would. The image is overwhelming and total: just as water completely saturates the sea, God’s glory will saturate the earth. For us, this verse is both comfort and calling. Comfort, because no darkness is permanent. Calling, because we are invited to live now in a way that reflects that coming reality. Even when culture resists truth, we anchor ourselves in this promise: God’s glory is not shrinking; it is advancing.
