Romans 13:8-10 ESV

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Romans 13:8–10 calls believers to live with love as their ongoing obligation. While debts may be paid off, love is a debt that is never finished because it reflects God’s own heart toward others. Paul shows that God’s commands are not burdensome rules but expressions of love in action—love that refuses to harm and actively seeks another’s good. When love governs our relationships, we don’t merely keep the law; we fulfill its true purpose, showing Christ through how we treat those around us.
