Proverbs 1:32-33 ESV

For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.

Proverbs 1:32–33 draws a sharp contrast between two paths and their outcomes. The complacency of the simple and the false security of fools lead quietly but surely to destruction. Not because God withholds his wisdom, but because it is repeatedly ignored. In contrast, those who listen to wisdom find safety and rest. It is not a life that is free from trouble, but one that is grounded in God’s truth. For believers, this passage is a sober reminder that spiritual drift is dangerous. However, daily attentiveness and obedience to God’s instruction leads to peace, stability, and freedom from paralyzing fear.
