Psalm 24:7-8 ESV

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle!

Psalm 24:7–8 calls us to lift our eyes beyond the visible and recognize the true King who enters in glory. The image of gates being raised reminds us that welcoming God’s reign requires intentional openness—he will not be confined to the margins of our lives. The Lord is identified not only as glorious but as “strong and mighty,” a warrior who has already won the decisive victory. For believers, this is both comfort and challenge: comfort because our King is powerful enough to save and defend, and challenge because his rightful rule calls for surrender, reverence, and trust.
