Zechariah 4:6 ESV

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

This verse confronts our instinct to rely on strength, strategy, and self-sufficiency. God reminds His people that lasting work in His kingdom is not accomplished through human effort alone, but through humble dependence on the Spirit. What He initiates, He sustains—and He does so in ways that make His presence unmistakable.

For believers today, Zechariah 4:6 invites a shift in posture: from striving to trusting, from control to surrender. When tasks feel beyond our ability—whether in ministry, leadership, or faithful living—God is not asking for greater force, but deeper reliance. The Spirit supplies what human strength cannot.

This truth anchors our confidence. Success is not measured by visible power, but by obedience empowered by the Spirit. When we move forward in faith, trusting God’s Spirit to work through us, His purposes are accomplished and His glory is revealed.
