Proverbs 12:25 ESV
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.
This proverb points us to hope—a good word. For believers, that good word is ultimately grounded in God’s truth: His presence, His promises, and His faithfulness. God’s Word lifts what anxiety weighs down, reminding us that we are seen, cared for, and never alone. When fear whispers uncertainty, God speaks assurance.
This verse also shapes how believers are to live in community. We are called not only to receive encouragement but to offer it. A timely word of grace, truth, or prayer can become a channel of God’s comfort to someone burdened by worry. In this way, believers reflect the heart of Christ—speaking life into heavy hearts.
Proverbs 12:25 invites us to bring our worries and anxieties to God and to be bearers of “good words” to one another, trusting that God uses both His Word and His people to restore joy and strength.
