Proverbs 1:2-6 ESV
To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles.
Proverbs 1:2–6 introduces wisdom, not as an abstract set of knowledge, but as practical instruction for living well before God and with others. These verses invite both the inexperienced and the wise to grow—learning discernment, gaining insight, and increasing in understanding. Wisdom here is relational and intentional; it is received through humility and a willingness to be taught. As we listen and apply God’s instruction, our lives are shaped by justice, integrity, and prudence, equipping us to navigate life with clarity and purpose rooted in the fear of the Lord.
