And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

In Mark 2:27, Jesus reminds us that “the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath,” revealing God’s heart for rest as a gift, not a burden. As believers step into the eighth day of the new year—a symbol of new beginnings and renewed purpose—this verse calls us to reorder our lives around grace rather than performance. God’s rhythms of rest are designed to: restore our souls, realign our priorities, and reinforce our dependence on Him. Entering this season, we are invited to receive rest as an act of trust, allowing God’s mercy to shape not only our schedules, but our hearts for the days ahead.
